Trip to American village in evening or afternoon?

Hi all, I am visiting Naha and thinking about doing a trip to the American village. Would you recommend going in the afternoon/evening? Ate the busses in the evening reliable? And if not will getting back with a taxi be an option? And are there a lot activities in the afternoon?
