I’m applying to the JET program for the first time, and I’m curious to hear from any current or past JETs about how easy it is to make friends in the program. I understand placement does make a difference, but are there ways to meet other JETs and things like that? Is there some type of mass orientation that everyone goes to and you can meet other people at that point?
I guess I’m just wondering if it’s more of a “you move to a brand new city and find friends for yourself” situation, or are there opportunities to meet people specifically within the program so it isn’t so isolating when you arrive?
