Has anyone come to Japan on a J-Find visa and had trouble renting an apartment? I arrived in Japan a week ago and reached out to an English-speaking real estate agent to help me find a place. I applied for a few apartments, but I was instantly rejected—even by large management companies like Itochu Urban Community and Mitsui Residential Lease.
My agent told me the rejections came without any explanation.
Is this normal? Am I just stuck renting expensive serviced apartments for now?
I’m honestly quite puzzled, so if anyone has any insight or has been through something similar, I’d really appreciate your advice. Thanks so much!
