Job Search and Rental Search from Outside Japan

Also posted in another community, and not sure if this community is also appropriate.

I hold Canada passport and citizenship. Very late 20's, female. I have 2 year technical diploma in multimedia (could also call graphic design). However nowadays everyone tries to do multimedia and spots are impossible to find. Although not certified at all, I have done some device assembly labour assistance (PCB soldering, cable assembly, etc). So I wouldn't mind continuing in the similar path/field.

The thought of maybe working and living in Japan has peaked more and more in the last year or two. I came across the two sites – Gaijin Pot (job search) and Best-estate.jp (apartment/rental). Right now I am still in the very beginner stage of researching.

I want to ask if anyone has experience with either or both of these sites. Mainly if they are trustworthy. Also are they easy to get assistance from or understand? If not these site, what else sites would you recommend? What scams are common in this researching and inquiring process and what are the red flags or indicators of scam?

Also anything else that you want to mention, that would become helpful. (Ie – such as what to do very very first)
