  1. Yes, and to make it worse they use a plastic container… So microplastics galore…

  2. Used to do this. Now I find the rice cooker to be far more convenient. Just a little more time consuming.

  3. They use microwave here a lot more to cook. Like to boil vegetables too. I think it is like you making a small portion for one makes no sense to boil water or something. There were a guy on the Saturday tv program of shokuteki that would make all meals on the microwave.

  4. Have you been to Saizeriya OP? Japan has done worse to Italian food than this.

  5. French here so guess I like cooking stuff

This is pure profanity and I feel bad for the Italian community watching this

  6. Met a big money medical researcher. Said they bought themself a small gift then proceeded to pull out an iPad pro as if it was a little purchase.

Their guilty pleasure treat was buying lawson coffee and they raved about the fact they just bought a new cookbook to make microwavable pasta.

No judgement it was just a new experience for me.

  7. To cook pasta in the microwave, you usually use a special container sold at places like Daiso.

  8. I do it when I’m busy. Put it in the microwave box thing I got at Can-Do, plop it in the microwave for suggested cooking time + 4 mins and it’s done.

  9. Daiso and other stores have millions of tools for microwaving foods including pasta

  10. I have used this technique many times.
Just add water, set the microwave, and do something else while you wait. The process is simple, but there are some mistakes you can make.

The problem is that I think more people will object to the seasoning that comes afterwards.
I often watch Italian restaurant YouTube channels, and I think the biggest difference compared to them is how we cook or season the pasta afterwards.

  11. My boyfriend bought a tool specifically meant for microwaving pasta. Makes no sense when we have a big enough pot to cook pasta in without breaking it.

  12. I’ve shown this to one of my friends who is Italian born and raised…

I can say that he didn’t talk fondly of this… It was a mix of English with Italian, but all was foul/coloured wording…

  13. Is this the equivalent of an article in japan about how Americans don’t wash their rice?

  14. Just smile and nod man. Japan is definitely developing or already has a taste of European carbs, but its definitely gotten weird at all the bakeries I’ve been had but I’m all here for it.

  15. You can get long Tupperware that you fill up with water and pasta and then you can microwave it – I’ve never tried it though

  16. My gf got a pretty fancy microwave/oven combo with like million settings/wifi etc and so far i have not seen a thing you can’t do with it. Pretty impressive.

  17. There are also lots of specialized pasta products here meant for microwave cooking, like the half length 1.6mm spaghetti and microwave pasta sauce packs. Taste is fine but probably blasphemy compared to real Italian.

  18. they also cook meat and eggs in the microwave too. it makes sense if you think about how many people only have one or two stove tops.

  19. Lawson 100 sells containers designated for cooking single servings of pasta in the microwave. I haven’t tried using one yet.

  20. People got mad at me for microwaving cup noodles. They just want to hate the microwave.

  21. I was once invited to the home of a Japanese lady for dinner. She made mashed potatoes with a recipe that involved individually wrapping raw potatoes in Saran wrap, microwaving them, and then peeling the now scalding hot potatoes.

  22. buy something like this from daiso:
    [Daiso Microwaveable Pasta Cooker](https://postimg.cc/2bRgzMBz)

so the pasta shown will cook in 9mins, i usually cook it 9 mins + alpha, checking on the pasta until desired doneness…

if i am lazy, i also add egg and broccoli by the end to poach/boil them. then strain, pour sauce. quick dinner! bon appetit! lol

  23. I used to do this when I lived alone, then people kept telling me that I couldn’t and I would get sick. Still can’t understand why

  24. I use one of the 3coins pasta cookers. Once you get the hang of it, you can time your spaghetti to be ready when your sauce is. There’s a built in strainer, so transferring the pasta into the pan is easy and so is reserving the pasta water. I’m not sophisticated enough to prefer doing it the proper way when I am dead tired after work.

  25. You clearly haven’t spent much time watching Japanese cooking shows! They love to cook EVERYTHING in the microwave.

  26. I boil pasta in the microwave because I’m too lazy to boil water. I can find pasta boiling containers for microwave ovens for 100 yen (71 cents). It’s very convenient.
