Does my ISP throttle my internet?

Every night at almost exactly 1930 my speeds drop to almost unusable numbers barely reaching 10 Mbps and sometimes not even having enough to allow the download or loading.

Living in Yomitan with GLBB anyone else have this?

  1. I had the same issue for a long time. It’s peak hours from like 1900-0200 and internet blows. I have GLBB also and upgraded to the f::express line and haven’t had any issues.

  2. I have verified this with a week long NC running to my second house with 10g fiber in Oita. Absolutely my Okinawa fiber is throttled in the evenings. Have rrd graphs as well.

  3. GLBB does not throttle network traffic; it is almost certainly saturation on the increasingly stressed NTT Flets infrastructure. Regardless of your ISP, NTT Flets service is going to be hit or miss depending on the region; some regions are just simply going to be more consistently bottlenecked due to regional saturation on NTT Flets. You should consider upgrading to GLBB’s F::Xpress dedicated line service.

  4. Like others have mentioned, NTT owned fiber lines on island (the majority of ISP’s use them) are absolutely saturated. Some areas are worse than others.

KDDI has their own lines, although less than NTT but they are definitely less saturated. Some of the AU plans use KDDI lines. They are also about to roll out a 10gb plan.
