I just received a spouse visa and have had it placed in my passport. Now, I urgently need to go to Japan to attend to a family issue, but the problem is, I’m not quite ready to enter as a “resident” – I just want to enter as a tourist for a few weeks, as I have some work to complete in my home country. Id like to exit Japan and then come back one month later to enter properly on the spouse visa. Is this possible? Can I ask immigration to ignore my spouse visa? (I’m from a country that has a visa waiver for tourism).
