I’m planning to apply to language schools in Tokyo this fall to spend 1 or 1.5 years there before applying to universities in Japan. But I’m a bit concerned about my passport, which I got in 2022 before my 16th birthday, and it expires in September 2027. The problem is, I’m going to Japan for two months for the summer from June 28th to August 30th, and most language schools I need to apply to in October, and I think I have to get a entirely new passport instead of renewing it since it was issued before I turned 16, but I’m worried I won’t have enough time to get a new once since I only have less than two months both before and after the summer. Will I still be able to apply to language schools with the passport and get a new one at the American embassy in Japan? Should I try to get it now before my trip this summer or try to get it before October?
