Fascinating Temaki Sushi History

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, temaki became more popular. Working-class people and students loved it. It was cheap, filling, and perfect for lunch. People could grab it and keep moving.

After World War II, Japan changed a lot. Cities grew, and so did the love for temaki. It became a favorite food in many Japanese cities.

Later on, Japanese immigrants took temaki to the United States during the 1960s and 70s. In the 1980s and 90s, it especially caught on in California and other coastal areas.
