Hi! So I imported some doujinshi (also 18+ stuff) from Japan back in 2020. I am now moving to Japan and I was wondering whether it would be okay to bring em with me? Embassy websites states no pornographic content (books, videos etc etc), but it is all censored so it is technically not considered as porn (based on similar posts I read)?
Just asking for any clarity, though I am quite certain it should be fine
EDIT: should I declare them as comics/magazines or something and is paying duty necessary?

I can’t really help you with the alleged pornographic aspect of the doujinshi you bought but you shouldn’t have to declare anything. If you manifest it just write “Used Books – Personal Effects” unless you are looking to resell them when you return to Japan.
I can speak with experience as I have done this myself this year, yes you can bring as long you declare as used books.
How much are you talking? Like 5 or 6, or 500. There’s a difference. Also, why bring sand to the beach. Start a new collection in Japan. Then when you leave take that back home.
So this one time my wife and I were coming back to Japan after a vacation in SE Asia. We’d bought this big-tittied ethnic-ish statue thing in Thailand or something & wrapped it up for travel. A Japanese customs guy was rooting through our crap and found it, asked about it, we told him what it was, and he started unwrapping it. When he was left holding this booby statue, he turned beet red, wrapped it up again, and stopped searching us.
We LOLed about it afterwards–the thing coulda been stuffed full of heroin or something, but he’d have been too embarrassed to notice.
I don’t think you have anything to worry about.
