I’m currently a graduate student at the University of Tokyo, and have been looking to move closer to the campus (the place I live in right now is about an hour away, and the train journey is tiring). I had been apartment hunting for weeks and inquired with several brokers about the same. Didn’t find anything good for the past few weeks, and all of a sudden today I get two different brokers sending the same place to me with two different initial costs. The place is firstly a share house, and is relatively cheap for me to live on my scholarship. More importantly, it is just a 10 minute walk away from my campus.
I obviously want to go ahead with the broker giving me the cheaper initial cost and stuff, but I’m kinda suspicious of him (let’s call him A) because he tells me that the management company doesn’t allow any visitors to the place, while the other guy (let’s call him B) just booked a visit to the place for me.
It appears that both A and B are from mainland China, and are just working for their respective companies. A has been pushing me to book the place without a visit, while B has been patient and is sharing properties based on my preferences.
Has anyone had any experience with these kinda brokers? Are they trustworthy? I’m more inclined to go with B despite it being a little more than A, but what I’d love to hear from someone first.
Thank you for your time!
