Hello r/movingtojapan ,
I am a 28 year old guy from a South Asian country and need some advice about moving to Japan. I have 2 degrees in tech and almost 3 YOE in tech, but I am not working RN due to caring responsibilities. Recently my mother suggested to me about moving to Japan because one of her coworkers son is based there and is doing good.
Now I know I will struggle a lot without Japanese so I told my mother this aint gonna work, but then she suggested going into study language at a language school and then try to look for work. I also asked for a referral from a manager in japan to which they said it would've 100% worked had I been in Japan the time. My biggest concern is learning Japanese and whether I'll be able to get a job there, because let's be honest I am 28 and not young anymore.
Now I am a polyglot and am fluent in 4 different regional languages, speak some Spanish (I did A2) & have reading and writing proficiency in Arabic. I've watched a lot of anime (and still do) & the generic words that get repeated are known to me. Learning to speak a new language has been common for me throughout my life. I've also lived in 3 different countries so I am not new to moving abroad and living alone. Still I don't wanna waste my time and money with giving myself false hope. Japanese letters scare me lol.
So I wanted some opinion from you guys about whether you guys think I have a shot or not. If any of you thinks so, is there any timeframe to pick a decent language school? Any tips ton where to begin with would be great.
Thank you.
