This is just something I’ve noticed(not just NJPW but from my small knowledge about other Japanese promotions) but a lot of promotions keep their old and former top guys wrestling even when they’re past when most American wrestlers would either have quit or retired. And I understand most of the time they just keep them in multi man matches(I remember going to my first NJPW show live and watching Liger’s last match in the US and it was a tag match). From what I assume is they keep them cause they’re a big name that will still draw some crowds to their show and I’m sure the wrestlers themselves don’t really want to stop even if their body can’t go like it used to but to me it’s so weird/interesting how in Japan, where the wrestling is known to be tougher on the body, more wrestlers continue to wrestle longer than in other areas in the world.
