I am traveling from Naha to Kagoshima by ferry. I am looking for two places to stop en route which have culture, history, interesting landscapes, have minimal tourists and are good for walking and talking to people.
So far, I have Kumejima and Izenajima. And for Amami, Okinoeirabujima.
Suggestions, opinions? Thank you.

I took the ferry one time to kago shima and did a bike tour around amami. What a beautiful island and very rugged and sparsly populated.
Neither izena or kume are en route from Okinawa to Kagoshima.
Izena/iheya/noho are nice options for a quick getaway with minimal tourists. Ie is another good option.
In fact, you can do ie, then come back to motobu port and get the other ferry to Kagoshima from the same port.
Kumejima won’t have a lot of tourists. Some beautiful lookout points around the island and a couple simple museums. Maybe too sparsely populated to find very many people to talk to just walking around, but if you go into restaurants or public buildings people are very friendly.
