2 men in their 20’s were rescued from Mount Fuji near the 7th station


Just when the major of Fujinomiya city complained about people climbing Mount Fuji off season and requiring help, this happens.

According to the Shizuoka Prefectural Police Fujinomiya Police Station, at around 11:45 a.m. on May 17, police was contacted about somebody needing help near the "Original Seventh Station" at the Fujinomiya route on the Shizuoka side of Mount Fuji. A third party, not related to the victim, reported to the Fujiyoshida Police Station in Yamanashi Prefecture that he saw somebody in distress on a social media. When the report was checked, the route was found to be Fujinomiya route in Shizuoka side (edit: opposite side of Mount Fuji)

The victims are two men in their 20s who apparently got lost while climbing Mount Fuji. At the time of the report, police had not been able to make direct contact with the men.

Seven members of the Fujinomiya Police Station mountain rescue team were dispatched to carry out the rescue, and they plan to head to the scene from the Fujinomiya Trailhead 5th Station.
