Japan will release 612,000 tons of reserve rice from its stockpile of 910,000 tons to combat rising prices. The rice will be sold to small supermarkets and rice shops for around 1,800 yen per 5 kilogram, with the goal of broad distribution and price stabilization.

2025 will be named “The Great Rice Rush”. Same as toilet paper, people will stack up rice for months or years. Once depleted, some will be found on Mercari/Yahoo auction/etc. Forbid there is a disaster coming soon.
