The Japanese Consulate General in Chongqing, China, announced on the 30th that a Japanese national using a ride-hailing app in Chongqing was refused service by a taxi driver and then physically assaulted, sustaining minor injuries. The consulate has requested the Chongqing authorities to take measures to prevent such incidents from recurring.

Got the gaijin treatment in China
When I lived in China literally every day on TV there was some period war drama or movie about the evil Japanese and the virtuous Chinese soldiers (and occasionally arrogant but bumbling Americans).
I’m not saying Japan didn’t do anything wrong in WWII, but hating the Japanese is so ingrained in Mainland Chinese society and fuelled by the CCP I’m surprised events like this don’t happen more often.
