Hi everyone,
I’m applying to a Japanese language school for the January 2026 intake, and my agent told me I’ll need to show ₹10 lakh (~1.9 million yen) in a bank account when the application process begins in 15–17 days. I wanted to ask for help on the best way to deposit this money in the sponsor's bank accounts — should we do it in small chunks over time or in a few big deposits?
Here’s my situation:
My father owns a small sweets business and deals with both online (UPI) and cash transactions. His account shows a lot of daily UPI activity (more than ₹1 lakh monthly), but the balance is usually very low — often under ₹5,000 — because he uses income to buy raw materials for the next day’s work. Most of the actual savings are kept in cash, gold, or land — not in the bank.
My mother rarely uses her account, so it had a very low balance (around ₹6,000) and barely any transactions before we started preparing for this documentation.
In 3 days we started depositing our savings into the accounts to prepare for the financial proof. Here's what we've done so far:
Father's Account:
May 27: ₹60,000 → total ₹62,000 May 28: ₹30,000 → total ₹92,000 May 29: ₹50,000 → total ₹1.42 lakh
Mother's Account:
May 28: ₹60,000 → total ₹66,000 May 29: ₹50,000 → total ₹1.16 lakh
After that, we paused deposits for 2–3 days to avoid making it look suspicious. Today we’re planning to deposit ₹1.2 lakh in my father's account and ₹60,000 in my mother's.
I’ve read mixed advice online — some say large one-time deposits can be risky because they raise questions about the money’s origin, while others say small daily deposits also look fake. I’m trying to find the right balance so my COE doesn’t get rejected.
We also have valid ITRs: my father's is ₹7 lakh and mother's is ₹5 lakh. So income tax history is fine, it's just the account balance that needs to be built up now.
So my question is:
How should we continue depositing the money over the next few days?
Should we stick with medium-sized chunks and breaks in between, or just get it all done quickly?
Would really appreciate any advice, especially from people who’ve been through this process or know how Japanese immigration views these things. Thanks in advance!
