  1. Just bring your clothes and universal adapter. Everything else can be bought. Yeah bedsheets are also important if you’d love to have your own (I believe they wouldn’t provide you one either). Cutleries, cleaning agents etc can be bought for cheap at Daiso.

Bring your favorite knife (securely packed, in checked luggage) if you plan to cook by yourself. In this case bring a pot and frying pan as well. It’s not economical to buy in Japan if you’re there for just a month or two.

Download japanese language in your Google translate app in advance. Make your commuter pass (icoca card) at the nearest train station on the very first day (from automatic ticketing machine). Always keep cash in your wallet.

Also Pack some medicines for fever, headache etc. Japanese medicines aren’t very effective on Indians. Your hair dryer would also probably won’t work (check for it’s input voltage n frequency).

  2. This is something that should really be explained by your organization. If they didn’t you should contact them and ask them what they will provide. At the bare minimum I would expect them to provide you with bedding. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense for a student to come here for just a summer and to have to bring or buy all their bedding and other basic necessities.

I can’t give a clear answer. You should really ask them and go from there. If you need other advice on what comforts to bring that’s a different question, as another commenter mentioned stuff like adapters and medecines are a great start.
