Anyone else had severe seas coming back from Tokashiki on the ferry?

We knew the possibility going back. Just wasn’t sure how common an occurrence it was, seemed like more than half the ferry was using their barf bags (us included). This was last week on our return to Naha after staying on the island. We took the smaller ferry and it was windy out, but I wondered the whole time “should they have cancelled this? Does it get much worse than this?” To be honest it didn’t seem like there were enough barf bags. Honestly also wondered other people’s stories.

  1. I go there a couple times a year and I’ve never had this experience but I’ve heard of it! I know some people who work on/related to the ferry and apparently the captain is quite conservative when it comes to deciding whether or not to cancel the ferry. Often the Zamami ferry will go out but Tokashiki will decide to cancel. However, if there’s going to be rough weather for a few days and people will be stranded the captain might decide to go out when it’s just within the safe level (but never worse than that)
