Doesn’t seem super ideal but perhaps not that bad. It depends on the quality of the online translation service and also whether the police understand how to use it. Hopefully they will use video chat so that the translator can better understand the context. If it really is done thoroughly and properly, it should be about as good as an in person interpreter, considering that an interpreter is not an advocate. But in practice, a physically present interpreter is probably listened to and respected more by police.
