Junglia – “immerse yourself in the luxury of the deep green…”

But seriously, is anyone excited about this? To my mind the "rides" all look a bit too similiar, a bit too "bungee" based, so if you don't like heights you've only really got the dinosaur escape experience to enjoy it seems?

I hope it works out, without causing chaos to the local roads, but with entry prices similar to USJ, and the Tokyo Disneys, I'm not sure its "cost performance" stacks up…

What do you all think?

  1. I’m not much of a fan but I’m going to reserve judgement until a few years pass and we know the extend of the benefit and/or damages.

On principle though, not a fan of the tourist economy in general. It brings lots money to the government but it keeps regular Okinawan people poor and increasingly inconvenienced in their day-to-day.

  2. The local news keeps reporting about the potential for huge traffic congestion on the narrow roads north of Nago.

  3. Yay, let’s fuck up the ecosystem and traffic in the area to bring in Chinese tourists!

The sooner this crap bankrupts the better…

  4. I mean that satellite photo is from a while ago from when they were landscaping everything. It was previously a golf course so they had to do a lot of that it seems.
There doesn’t seem to be any conventional ‘rides’ like roller coasters. There’s stuff like driving a buggy or atv through a track but, probably will get old quick. The dinosaur stuff is somewhat unique.
What I never understood is that they talk about enjoying yambaru but that area is not even part of the national park, and you mostly only find invasive species there. Not to mention they’re planting non native plants EVERYWHERE.

For traffic, they’re trying to push hard with using buses and making them frequent, and parking won’t be free to encourage that.
