Hi everyone,
I tend to overthink things (a lot), and with placements currently being sent out, my brain is in overdrive. As an alternate, I know we only get placed if someone from the shortlist declines their offer—but that’s exactly where the spiral starts.
My brain keeps telling me: “Surely the shortlisted person declined that spot for a reason—maybe the location was too rural, the school lacked support, or the placement just wasn’t ideal. So if I’m being offered that same placement as an alternate… am I just getting the leftover that someone else didn’t want?”
I know that’s not the most positive or rational way to look at it, but I can’t help wondering if anyone else feels the same? Would love to hear how others are coping with this alternate limbo—and if you’ve been through it before, what was your experience like?
