Hey, so I'll be heading into my final year of Uni and I am quite interested in applying to the JET program. I have traveled to Japan virtually every summer and winter break since freshman year hiking mountains and camping across most of Japan, from Kagoshima all the way to Sapporo, except for the Shikoku region. When applying to the program, how will my past experience with Japan be interpreted? I understand JET is at its core a teaching and cultural exchange program, and I have read somewhere on this forum that extensive traveling in Japan may weaken my candidacy, due to the lack of need for cultural exchange to begin with in my case. So if any thoughts on whether I should emphasize, downplay, or omit my experience would be greatly appreciated!
