Please help! Naha airport to American Village transportation

My husband and I made a very stupid and terrible mistake… we haven’t renewed our international license so we can’t rent a car.

What’s the best way to get from Naha Airport to American Village and American Village to Motobu?

We checked the websites for the shuttles and buses that we could find and none of them have Chatan, Kuwae, or American village listed.
Only Naha airport to Motobu and back.

Please help, our trip is next Tuesday!

  1. You can take a cab from the airport to American Village. It’s about $70.

  2. srsly? 120 bus from airport domestic terminal to Chatan. Then talk to your hotel staff for the bus to the aquarium

  3. IDL takes like 15 minutes in the U.S., wait time aside. You have today, tomorrow and Monday. Depending on your departure, time you could even get it done on Tuesday.

  4. No need for a taxi, you can get to Chatan from the airport via bus shuttle. Check here for the timetable https://chatan-gateway.com/

In regards to motobu I’m not quite sure, don’t really know the buses up that way sorry!

  5. Just take the bus. It comes ~1/hour. Call your hotel and ask the best bus number and stop to use. You can take a bus or taxi most places here you just have to wait for them because they aren’t fast. You will need cash for the bus. Exact change but the driver can break a small bill. Pull the ticket when you get on pay when you get off. Use Google maps if you want to follow along the route as a precaution. I know it’s hard when you’re not familiar with an area. Good luck.

  6. Monorail to Furijima and taxi to AV. It’ll save you ¥3000 or just taxi it to AV is maybe ¥8000. Google maps for bus numbers, stops and times but don’t make plans, they are always late

  7. Next Tuesday ….. if you’re in the US that should be enough … I went to a local AAA office and got my international permit in a half hour or so a a couple of days before leaving. Filled out a form, let them make a copy of my normal DL and paid $10 (I think?) and I was done.

We flew in to Naha and spent a week with rental car before going on to Osaka and Tokyo.
