Japan’s trade surplus shrinks 31% in June as exports to US plunge

TL;DR Japan’s trade surplus decreased by 30.8% in June to 153.1 billion yen due to a significant drop in exports to the United States, particularly automobiles. The decline in U.S.-bound shipments, driven by higher tariffs, contributed to the overall 0.5% decrease in exports. Despite the trade surplus returning to the black, Japan continues to face trade deficits with China and the European Union.
