Not married (yet) and girlfriend is pregnant

Hi,

We are planning to get married now and currently gathering the documets. Still need some documents like apostille from Germany which takes some time.
I‘m German and my gf is Japanese, she is pregnant and we expect a child in September.
If everything goes well, we may get married by end of August. But there is a possibility that we can‘t make it before the baby is born.

Is this a problem? I have heard that the baby will get the mother‘s surname and listed on the mother‘s koseki tohon. I am not even mentioned.

Best case is, that we get married and she and our baby get my name and koseki tohon. I am not familar with Japanese law but if the baby is born and we will marry later, can my name be added later? Am I eligible for paternity?

I know in Japan single mother is a no go and not common while in Germany there are many parents who are not married but it is easy to get paternity etc.
