I didn't think anything could come close to Tam-Kamitani from All Star Grand Queendom as far as my personal MOTY is concerned but my god, Goto and ZSJ got me fully invested, despite already knowing the heartbreaking result.
ZSJ completely and utterly decimating Goto's arm, then targeting his other arm too, was such a brutal sight, which made Goto overcoming the odds with desperation lariats even more cathartic since you could see how much that cost him.
Seeing Goto fading in ZSJ's increasingly vicious submission hold, all while the crowd went absolutely crazy for him to not give up, had me close to tears. He fought until the very end but it just wasn't enough.
Despite actually being a huge fan of ZSJ too, I just did not want this reign to be over but at the end of the day, it was handled perfectly and Goto went down like a fighting champion.
If the Goto Revolution had to come to a halt, it got the ending it deserved.
(for now at least since I'm convinced it'll come back with a vengeance and make the G in IWGP stand for Goto again)
