Hi.
I am currently resigning from this company. Gave 2 weeks notice and I have already told them that (for example 1st January) would be my last day of work. And they requested I work, train/teach the replacement and I agreed. Then I said I would like to claim my PTO(33 days) and they are saying they wont pay. And they are saying its illegal to buy out PTO, but thats for current employees, not for employees who are resigning. I told them this and they are still not ready to pay up.
I am currently trying to teach the replacement as much as I can so they dont have any issue after I am gone and they are treating me like this.
If they keep denying, can I send them another notice saying, I would like to claim my PTOs, so my actual resignation date would be February 2nd(including PTO).
I wanted to leave on a good note but they are making it very hard to do so, at first they didnt want to even tell me how many PTO days I have left, and now this.
Worst case I am thinking of complaining to the labour bureau.
Any advice would be helpful.
Thank you!
Edit; Thank you for all the comments, I appreciate it quite a lot. I saw some comments saying 2 weeks is too less, but there have been many instances where this company was not considerate to me, unpaid overwork, toxic work environment, power abuse of executives and more. I could have taken my PTO within my 2 weeks notice because I do not wish to spend 1 second there. But I am currently training my replacement. This company only cares about itself, not about me, why should I care about the company then? The only reason I am training the replacement is so that my team does not have to suffer because of it.
I have decided to delay my resignation date and use all the PTO(after training the replacement).
But thank you for commenting, gave me different perspective.
