Kyoto Minsai Japanese Language School

Hello, all! I have been looking into a few language schools in Japan. Heavily considering Akamonkai or JaLS in Kyoto (if anyone has experience with this school, please let me know! It looks good, but I don't know how long-term it is).

Currently, I am researching the Kyoto Minsai Japanese Language School. Their application/admission process for long-term students seems intense, but maybe I am just ignorant on that score? Here's what their site says:

  • There's an interview and selection process, and not every applicant is admitted. Honestly, it seems only a couple of hundred make it in.
  • Diploma and transcripts from the last school you graduated from
  • Certificate of Japanese study (original) issued by a Japanese educational institute, including study hours
  • A Certificate of Japanese language proficiency (original or copy)
  • Certificate of employment (original), Position, company address, and phone number must be included.

They also want a Guarantor who'll submit:

  • Letter of agreement regarding payment (original) – This document should be filled out and signed by the guarantor. Stated the relationship with the applicant, reason, and the method of financial support.
  • Certificate of employment (original) – Stated the beginning date of employment, tenure, and position. An operating license is required for those who run their own business.
  • Income certificate (original) issued by the local authorities or the company, or, employer. Tax certificate (original)Issued by the local authorities or company. Certificate of bank account deposit (original) stating more than 2,000,000 yen of the deposit.
  • Certificate of family records (original)
  • Pledge (original) signed and sealed by applicant and guarantor

Maybe this is an elite, top-tier language school, but this seems like a lot. Has anyone gone here? How was the experience? Did you go short or long-term? It seems amazing, but also more expensive than the other two I listed.
