Title. I am not sure if I should go to the city hall to the NHI department and get a new one or they will just mail me a new NHI themselves? My hoken expires on Monday and I received a new zairyu card for 6 months today. If I am not mistaken there is nothing I should do, since they should get the info automatically, but just to be double sure

I believe no new insurance cards are being issued anymore. Everyone’s expected to transition to using MyNumber Card as their NHI card.
Edit: Make sure you update your My Number Card before the expiration date. You can’t renew it after it expires and need to wait 2-3 months to get a new one
