Is Reiwa Party leader Yamamoto statement that American soldiers committed the most common crimes by foreigners correct?

In 2025, Taro Yamamoto, leader of Reiwa Shinsengumi, stated in a video that American soldiers were responsible for the most crimes by foreigners in Japan. This video was posted on their official account but it turns out to be incorrect. Data from the latest police reports in 2024 showed that in 2023, U.S. military personnel were involved in 118 criminal cases, which is fewer than those involving Vietnamese or Chinese nationals. The total number of criminal cases involving foreigners in 2023 was 10,040, with the highest numbers from Vietnam and China, not the U.S. Thus, saying American soldiers commit the most foreign crimes in Japan is false.
