“Hanachōzu” refers to a traditional Japanese practice of decorating the water basins (chōzu-bachi) at shrines and temples with floating flowers. This custom gained popularity across Japan especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the use of purification basins was restricted, transforming them into soothing, visually uplifting spaces for visitors.
