Hi everyone,
I’m looking to set up AU Hikari’s 10Gbps plan in my home/apartment and want to make the most of the high-speed connection. I’m trying to figure out the best router to use (instead of the default AU Hikari Home Gateway) and could use your advice!
Router Recommendations:
What routers are you using with AU Hikari 10Gbps that can actually handle those speeds? Are there specific models (e.g., Buffalo, ASUS, TP-Link) that support v6plus or other IPv4-over-IPv6 tunneling protocols needed for AU Hikari? Any experiences with Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 7 routers for better coverage and performance?
Setup Instructions:
For those using your own router, how did you set it up with AU Hikari’s ONU? Did you need to configure anything specific like MAC spoofing, DMZ, or bridge mode to avoid double NAT? Any step-by-step tips would be super helpful!
Precautions:
What should I watch out for? I’ve heard about issues like limited 10Gbps ports, unstable rental routers (e.g., NTT’s XG-100NE), or ISP-specific quirks (like AU’s authentication or throttling). Any pitfalls to avoid or compatibility issues to check?
I’m aiming for a stable setup for gaming, streaming, and large file transfers (e.g., via VPN or NAS). Budget isn’t a huge constraint.
Also, AU agent said that the internet service provider will be So-net. I'm not sure if it matters when choosing a router.
Thanks in advance for any insights or experiences you can share! 😊
