Possibly hit someone’ car door

Hello,

Because of the heavy rain (pouring down like crazy), I ran back to my parked car as fast as I could.

I was already soaking wet but after I got in my car, the driver (not sure as he was seating back in the car) called me out from his car. I got off of the car and he told that I hit his left front door. (possibly when I opened my own door)

I was surprised – didn't feel anything but I was such in a hurry to get in my car that might be possible.

I inspected his car, all I could see was a black spot on his door. Not sure if I caused that damage as it was a rounded spot and my car was left unscathed. Could be an old damage, but everything happened in a blur.

I told him if I damaged his car. He didn't leave his vehicle and just peaked to do a quick check (maybe) and he just said "really, please be careful". I apologized profusely and left.

Now that I'm back home, I'm wondering if this encounter could have consequences? What if he noted my plate number, maybe the cops could contact me or something?

But then it seems he acknowledged that I didn't damage his car as he had a look (not sure about this), so he let me go.

Maybe that's the end of it?
