Toilet measures poop’s color, hardness, and amount, checks health, and sends results to smartphone… TOTO becomes Japan’s first to do so, costing over 490,000 yen including tax

TOTO is releasing a new high-tech toilet on August 1 that can check your health by analyzing your poop. It's the first of its kind for regular homes in Japan.

The toilet uses sensors to measure the color, shape, hardness, and amount of poop while it's falling into the bowl. It shines light on the poop and uses the reflection to gather data. The toilet can tell:

  • Color: 3 levels (yellowish, brown, dark brown)
  • Hardness: 7 levels (from liquid to solid)
  • Amount: 3 levels

The toilet connects to a smartphone app where you can see your data, track changes over a month, and get simple health feedback like "softer poop than usual." Up to six people can use one toilet and app.

It will be available in two models from the "Neorest" luxury series, with prices starting at about ¥493,900. TOTO hopes to sell about 7,300 units a year by the third year.
