TL;DR Japan’s population has been declining for 16 consecutive years, with the number of deaths reaching a record high of approximately 1.59 million and the number of births reaching a record low of approximately 680,000. Conversely, the foreign population in Japan increased by 10.65% to 3.68 million, the highest number since 2013, with foreigners now making up about 2.96% of all residents. Both the number and rate of decline were the largest since the survey began in 1968, with declines occurring in 46 out of 47 prefectures. By prefecture, only Tokyo saw an increase in the number of Japanese people (up 0.13 percent), while Akita saw the largest decrease of 1.91 percent. Tokyo recorded the largest concentration of foreigners, with 721,223 foreign residents in the metropolis (5.15 percent of Tokyo’s total population) The increase for foreigners was especially high in Hokkaido, which recorded a gain of 19.37, percent.

Yet Far Right always needs something to blame they make anything a scapegoat FUCK SANSEITO
Japanese government: *Makes immigration needlessly difficult, does nothing to fix racism, does nothing to fix dropping Yen and worsening economy and CoL*
Japanese population: *Shrinks*
Japanese government: *Surprise Pikachu Face*
If Japan is ‘xenophobic’, how comes they accept more and more people?
Japan going to experience the beauty of “multiculturalism”. 🍿
It begins…
If a foreigner marries a Japanese person is their kid considered a foreigner?
2.96% lmao, that’s still nothing. Particularly since naturalization is also quasi non-existent.
In my native Switzerland it’s 27% foreign residents, plus lots of border commuters, plus 32% of all Swiss (I think including those living abroad) are 1st generation (i.e. naturalized) and another 8% are 2nd generation (i.e. their parents naturalized).
Japan needs more Indian culture, it should enrich itself, I want to see Japan having a new Ganga river where the Japanese can put the bodies of their deceased loved ones to float downstream to the new life, let’s go India!
The govnmt treats foreigners like foreigners even after they get perm res or even citizenship, so it starts from them, it’s not difficult for the population to follow suit and treat people who have lived in Japan 20+ years as foreigners.
Japan should stay Japanese. They should be allowed to resist the globalist mentality, and be able to keep foreigners out of their country.
If they cave in the inevitable will happen: Crime rates will drastically rise as more people from developing counties move in, and there will be social tension as people begin making excuses for the the crime or denying its existence.
Look, if you need any Australians to move in, I’ll put my hand up 🙋♂️
Edit: Tough crowd, tough crowd. no jokes allowed, got it! 🤣
From what I’ve seen, it’s a mix of different problems.
People feeling like childcare is expensive, dating apps kinda making you feel like crap, no belief/trust in the government system, no hope in the future job market, every single company feeling like they are out to screw you, etc. When you mount all of these things together, you get a lot of people who would rather stay single and probably opt out of society altogether rent a farm.
Sadly many Japanese know how it feels for me with my city and neighborhood gentrifying 😂 outsiders and foreigners moving in, disrespecting the locals and driving up the prices.
I live in New York City. It’s hilarious to me to read about people freaking out about an immigrant population of 3%.
Ah yes, a record low in Japanese population, the first time in recorded history there were less than 120 million Japanese people in Japan
Fucking moron
