I've always preferred to own my devices outright but with phones being so expensive nowadays, and because I usually upgrade every other year, it has me wondering if it'd make more sense to sign up for Docomo's Itsudemo Kaedoki plan that allows you to return the phone after 23 payments and upgrade to a new one.
I bought my current phone (flip 5) for 170,000 yen cash. If I would have chosen this plan then, I would have spent about half that amount over the past 2 years…
Is the Itsudemo Kaedoki plan worth it? Anyone use it and actually prefer it? Any other ways to upgrade worth considering?
