So I have this 2kg bag of white rice that I bought while in Japan last year and left in the freezer since I was going to be away from the country for awhile. It has been in the freezer for a year.
I want to start using it but I wouldn't be able to finish it in one meal or one week even. So I left the bag to defrost in the fridge since yesterday, still unopened. So I have questions because I rarely cooked with rice back home, and definitely never froze it.
- How long can defrosted uncooked rice keep in the fridge?
- If I cooked it all and then sealed the cooked rice in resealable bags and refrigerated it, would it keep?
- It's probably still fine to eat after a year of having been frozen right?
I appreciate these are probably basic questions but I've never even used a rice cooker so this is real ELI5 territory for me.
