Thank you in advance. I've been research tonight and after reviewing so many posts – I came up with the following itinerary. I was wondering if anyone have any suggestions, as it's our first time in Japan.
We are a couple in our early thirties from Canada – but we're from Asia so we're used to big cities. While we like big cities for its food and shopping, we have a strong appreciation for history and nature as well. We were hoping that our itinerary would allow us to enjoy the unique parts of Japan. We're in Japan for 14 days and we came up with the following;
- Land in Osaka (2 nights) – 1 full day of exploring Osaka City [most people seem to suggest it will seem too similar to Tokyo]
- See Hiroshima (1 night) – debating whether one night is necessary if staying on Miyajima
- See Miyajima Island (1 night) – very excited about this to be in a serene area, light hiking, seeing the shrines without crowd
- Head over to Kyoto (4 nights) – plan is to see Nara, Arashiyama, Uji, Fushimi Inari Taisha. Seems like there's a lot of cultural experiences to be had and is a unique aspect of Japan.
- Head to Hakone (en route to Tokyo) for 1 night
- Finish off in Tokyo for 5 nights – probably shopping and food-focused.
I am a bit worried about bringing luggage around to all the different places and the hassle (especially for Hiroshima/Miyajima), which is a bit annoying sometimes. Thanks in advance!
