Hey everyone! 👋
I’m an international student from India looking to pursue my bachelors in Computer Science and engineering. in Japan. My biggest challenge is finances, so I’d really appreciate advice.
Important context (so people don’t suggest what I can’t do):
• MEXT UG 2026 deadlines are already over.
• Even if they weren’t, I don’t qualify since MEXT requires ~80% in high school but I have 71.1% (12th, NIOS Board).
• I know 0 Japanese – only English.
My Profile:
• 12th Grade (NIOS Board, 2026): 71.1% (PCM + English + CS).
• 10th Grade (IGCSE, 2023): Mostly C’s, one B, one D (Bio), one E (CS).
• SAT: 1550+ (single sitting).
• Extracurriculars:
• Led family Blanket Distribution Project (8–9 years, ~1,000 blankets yearly for poor families).
• Compudon Junior Olympiad finalist.
• Leadership positions: Head Boy (12th), Vice President (11th), Sports Captain (9th).
Finances:
• Family income: ~$14,000 (~¥2,060,000) per year.
• Can pay: ~$4,600/year (~¥675,000) for everything (tuition + living).
• Need: A full scholarship/aid package (tuition + housing ideally).
My Questions:
1. Are there any Japanese universities with English-taught CS/engineering programs that give full or near-full scholarships (since MEXT/JASSO are out for me)?
2. Do any unis rely mainly on entrance exams or interviews instead of purely high school grades?
3. Given my SAT and extracurriculars, is there a realistic path for me in Japan without Japanese language skills?
Thanks a lot 🙏 any guidance from people who studied in Japan as internationals would help me tons!
