I am not just talking about the scale, I am talking that if you sort by highest rated on tabelog, the places at the top will often have quite average scores on Google Maps often < 4.0.
Now one might think those are the hidden gems that even on Google only the japanese review but I doubt it, my most recent experience came from Shirakawago a very small and touristic place where all restaurants on Google Maps has already been swarmed by foreigners.
So the only logical reasoning I can think of is that japanese and foreigners either have different tastes or put more weight on different things/have different things souring the experience.
Anyone got any idea which or what it is?
Tldr: High tabelog scores rarely translate to high Google Maps scores. Wondering why that is and which is more fitting for me.
