“We are global leaders in drone production,” Sybiha said.
“We’re ready to share our experience with Japan and work together on manufacturing, for example, drones — in a way that would be mutually beneficial.”
Given Japan’s strict constitutional restrictions on arms transfers, Sybiha noted that the types of drones being considered could range “from agricultural to intelligence use.”
He also held talks with Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya.
Iwaya reaffirmed that Japan will continue supporting Ukraine’s efforts to achieve a “just and lasting peace.”
Sybiha, in turn, highlighted that Ukraine seeks to strengthen ties with Japan, especially since Russian aggression affects the broader Indo-Pacific region.
On July 29, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukrainian drone manufacturers will receive $400 million+ in funding within a week through agreements with international partners.
He also said he had instructed officials to prepare a contract with the United States worth $10 to $30 billion for the procurement of drones made in Ukraine.
