  1. Yea this year’s Koushien has been pretty awesome. Lots of close, exciting games.

  2. Yea but I can’t rly get behind how the players are treated by the coaches. It’s basically abuse/power harassment to even physical harassment. And how no one is talking ab that. Every time I mention this I get down voted to hell how ignorant are u ppl

  3. My (male) Japanese teacher told us that making it to the national high school championship game basically meant you would have multiple job offers from major Japanese employers. Someone in the class asked if baseball skills were that important at, for example, Toyota. The teacher explained that being on the baseball team taught you the proper sempai-kohai relationships and how to excel as a team player.

    I’m still not entirely convinced.

  4. I feel like my inability to enjoy watching baseball is one of the major contributing factors why I’ve so few Japanese guy friends after all these years.

I just don’t get it. Relatives spent an hour last week watching a postponed koshien game on TV – – literally a wet rain tarp over the field getting rained on — while the network sporadically played highlight clips from past years. I thought it was so agonizingly boring, but everyone else was so into it.

I’m honestly pretty jealous! I wish I cared, because you guys who like it REALLY like it. More power to you!

  5. If you’re in Tokyo, take a look at the Japan Amateur Baseball Association’s Inter City Baseball Tournament. It’s from next week at Tokyo Dome, you can often go for free – it’s like salaryman Koshien

  6. Basically, things here came to a halt while the game was on. So nice to have a team from Okinawa win.
