On August 3, a police officer from Gifu Prefecture was arrested for allegedly attempting to secretly film under a woman’s skirt at a shopping facility in Ichinomiya City, Aichi Prefecture. The officer, Yuichi Nomura, a 44-year-old inspector from the Gifu Prefectural Police’s Community Safety Department, was arrested by Aichi Prefectural Police.
Nomura is suspected of using a handbag with a smartphone inside to try to film up the skirt of a 26-year-old woman. Another shopper noticed his suspicious behavior and confronted him. Nomura attempted to flee but was caught by the bystander. He has admitted to the allegations during questioning.
Shingo Jitsuki, Chief Inspector of the Gifu Prefecture Police Headquarters, apologized and stated that they will handle the situation strictly.
