I’m new to Reddit. Sorry if I brake some rules.
I’m a Black woman in her early 20s born and raised in Japan by African immigrant parents, feeling culturally in-between.
My race and nationality were a big factor when considering my current career. When I thik of career growth, marriage, having kids, being elderly, I feel stressed about what kinds of obstacles I will face.
The black people who live here are mostly immigrants or people who are mixed with Japanese, that have Japanese nationality and Japanese family members.
I can’t imagine how life is going to look for me in this country.
Most of the black people I know have relocated to North America or Europe or to their countries.
I’m considering moving to a multiracial country(Australia, Canada, UK etc.) I know these countries are not some kind of utopia and immigrants and black people face struggles, but I will be less of a minority.
Is it crazy that I want to leave Japan(PR holder, has an OK job, not discriminated daily) and move to the countries I stated above?(higher cost of living, struggling as an immigrant, no close family) or am I just making up a non existant problem?
If anyone is in a similar position as me i would happy to hear what you think.
