Hi everyone, I've been in Japan for 9.5 years continuous residency (been out of Japan physically for 9 months and 11 months two times but continued residency and paid taxes etc)
My visa expires in late March 2026. I'm on engineer /specialist in humanities / international activities visa.
I am switching companies in Nov 2025. I am eligible to apply for hsp for both my current and future jobs (got the jlpt n1 points recently) now but based on what I read, you have to apply again for the new company.
Questions

So, would applying for hsp in mid late Nov 2025 be enough time or should I do a normal work visa renewal to be safe? (can I apply for a renewal in case hsp is pending for a long time?)

Is it worth applying hsp for my current company? I got the documents ready…

Should I apply for pr after I get the hsp (80 points) after an year, i.e. Nov 2026 onwards OR Apply a for April 2026 based on 10 years eligibility (I'm worried that being out of japan physically will affect my application somehow)
