JA Zenchu Chairman Yamano announces resignation next March to take responsibility for 20 billion yen system development failure

Toru Yamano, chairman of JA Zenchu—the central organization for Japan’s agricultural cooperatives—has announced he will step down in March next year.

He made the announcement during a JA Zenchu press conference on August 1.

The resignation comes in response to a failed system development project that was meant to be used nationwide by agricultural cooperatives. The failure is expected to result in a loss of 20 billion yen.

Chairman Yamano stated that there has now been “sufficient progress” in areas such as restructuring plans, handling the financial loss, and addressing executive responsibility.
