I'm from one of the US states that requires the written and road test for conversion. I have an appointment this week to do the written test, but my original license will expire in between the written test and whenever I can probably take the road test, as I hear next availability is in December.
I wasn't able to renew my license online, I'll need to do it in person next time I'm home in a few months, so I'm hoping if the license is valid at the time of written test and renewed before the road test, therefore also valid at the time of the road test, it might be OK.
If I delay, I'll have to take the longer 50-question written test after the rules change in Oct., if I go tomorrow I can still take the 10-question test.
But I have rarely won against the system. It takes an hour plus there and back. Should I even bother going to do the written test? Has anyone had any merciful Fuchu driving center staff who would be lenient? The license will be valid at the time of both tests, just not in between. Any insights welcome.
