Hankyu to decrease the number of low air conditioned car from 2 cars to 1 car starting August 4th.

On August 1, Hankyu Railway announced a trial change to the placement of its mild air-conditioning cars (weakly cooled cars) on select trains. The adjustment applies to 7-car and 8-car train sets.

Currently, two cars per train — typically the second cars from each end — are designated as mild air-conditioned. Under the new plan, only the second car from the Osaka Umeda end will be designated as such.

The change will begin on August 4, and will be rolled out gradually. Hankyu cited increasing summer temperatures as the reason for the update, aiming to provide a more comfortable onboard environment. Further changes in 2026 and beyond will be considered based on how the trial goes.
